Reception and Year 1 children have been busy creating images in their computing lesson today.
From all the staff and governors at Roecliffe we wish all our families a very happy and healthy new year!
We have all enjoyed a positive and colourful start back at school today.
Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children gave an amazing performance last Thursday and Friday for their families and friends. The staff and children worked very hard to put together a wonderful selection of Christmas songs and dances to tell the nativity story in very much a wriggly way!
The children enjoyed a very special visit from Father Christmas today.
We enjoyed learning about the importance of Christingles during Collective Worship with Rev Karen today and we look forward to making our own Christinges this week.
Roecliffe children have made a World Cup Christmas Tree for the Christmas Tree Festival which will be held at St James’s Church, Boroughbridge on 3rd and 4th December. Why don’t you pop along to see our tree?
On Thursday Beth from Phunky Foods and our four Wellbeing Ambassadors helped our Reception and Year 1 children learn how fruit and vegetables are good for our bodies and also that we should try to eat at least five portions each day. Thank you to Class 1 parents for joining us and helping us to create our fruit snack creations – they were yummy!
We are delighted at the number of shoe boxes full of donations and gifts which our pupils have filled ready for collection by Rotary International.
Over the last four years Roecliffe school and Boroughbridge Scouts have delivered over 200 boxes and these go to children and families in Eastern Europe who have very little. In past years these have included Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and Albania but many this year will be going to Ukranians who have been displaced into Romania and Moldova.
Well done and many thanks, Roecliffe families, for providing happiness to children who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Our Wellbeing Ambassadors – Betsy, Will M, MiLosz and Isla – have led a poster competition across our school. Roecliffe children were invited to design and create a poster which promotes eating at least five portions of fruit and/or vegetable each day. This poster competition was launched as part of our ‘Strive for Five’ initiative this term.
One of our school’s key priorities this year is to support our pupils’ understanding of how to maintain good health and positive mental health and wellbeing.
Thank you to all the children who entered a poster into our competition – it was very difficult to choose the winning entries as there were so many talented pieces of work!
