Enquiry Based Learning

Class 1 consists of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children. In order to teach both the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum effectively, we have adopted the ‘Enquiry Based Learning’ approach to teach our wider curriculum. We have found that this approach gives all children the opportunity to learn, further their understanding and fully take part within class topics.

In collaboration with Early Excellence we have developed our Early Years and Year 1 continuous provision and adopted the Enquiry Based Learning approach to help bring together purposeful provision and an engaging curriculum for all our children. To find out more information on this please read the following Early Excellence blog about ‘What is Enquiry Based Learning?’

Enquiry Based Learning has provided our children with more contextual, first hand experiences which has enabled our children to become engaged and confident learners, asking purposeful questions and thinking independently about how they may find out their answers.
